The FS7 features a killer 4K Super35 EXMOR sensor that gives you 14 stops of latitude as well as a wide color gamut. Two choices of codecs are available: XAVC or MPEG—2. The XAVC codec records 4K & HD, while MPEG-2 can only be used for HD. Internally, the FS7 records 4K up to 60fps in UHD 3840×2160 and in HD up to 180fps. 4K (4096×2160) is available over the 3G-SDI or HDMI 2.0 outputs. This allows you to capture 4096×2160 video via an optional external recorder. Sony’s FS7 camera is equipped with the Sony E-mount. Most shooters prefer to shoot with Canon glass instead, and this is easily achieved by using an adapter such as the Metabones, which is what I use. I like using this camera any time I’m in a run-and-gun situation where I may not have a ton of time to transcode or need to sync up with other Sony cameras (like an F55 or AS7). Rate: $400/day
