Canon C-300: This HD Cinema camera is a nice middle ground between higher end cameras (RED, Alexa) and DSLRs. The camera delivers excellent HD video on CF cards in a 4:2:2 XF codec, can shoot up to 12 stops of dynamic range with the Canon Log (C-Log) gamma setting, and can shoot 60 fps at 720p. I love this camera for documentary, run and gun, or narrative on a budget because of its internal ND filters, excellent onboard monitor and easy workflow. My version comes with the Canon EF mount, so it works with anything on that mount from basic DSLR lenses to Zeiss CP-2s. It’s a great value for a camera that produces a great image, is reliable and easy to work with. Rate: $300 per day
